Get ready for an exciting chapter in the Leicester Tigers' journey as they prepare to take on Harlequins at Mattioli Woods Welford Road this Saturday!
The Power of Process
Assistant coach Alex Davies, who's leading the team once again, emphasizes that it's all about the process. He believes that by focusing on their game strategies and squad development, they can achieve the desired outcome - a win! Davies highlights the importance of nailing the basics and being consistent in their approach, especially in the areas identified by the coaching group and players.
"It's about creating good habits and ensuring we're consistent in our performance," Davies explains. "By sharpening our playing skills and adapting to different situations, we can put ourselves in a strong position to win."
A Chance for All
The PREM Rugby Cup presents a unique opportunity for players across the squad. With many internationals away and others recovering from injuries, it's a chance for the younger players to shine and gain valuable experience. Davies mentions the importance of keeping the messaging clear and simple, ensuring that the game plans are relatable to the team's style of play.
"We want to see these young players embrace the big stage and perform consistently," he adds. "It's been encouraging to see their growth, especially when we had to adapt during the second half of the weekend game. The boys stepped up, applied pressure, and secured the win!"
Learning and Growing
For Davies, these game weeks have been a learning curve. As the lead coach, he's taken on new responsibilities, setting the direction and delegating tasks to the co-coaches. Scheduling the week and managing logistics was a fresh experience for him, and he leaned on his colleagues for support.
"It was great to collaborate with Geoff (Parling) and Matt Parr, discussing training strategies and logistics on our day off," Davies shares. "Experiencing these aspects of coaching gave me a broader understanding of everyone's roles and the importance of teamwork."
So, as the Tigers gear up for their final pool fixture, the focus remains on the process, development, and the power of collaboration. But here's where it gets interesting...
