A Fiery Response: John Steenhuisen Fights Back Against Damning Allegations
In a recent scathing article, journalist R.W. Johnson took aim at John Steenhuisen, the Minister of Agriculture and leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA). Johnson's piece, titled "The DA in Crisis," sparked a heated debate and a strong reaction from Steenhuisen himself.

Furthermore, Steenhuisen refuted Johnson's claim that he has never held a job outside politics, stating that he worked full-time for a wholesaler while serving as a councillor part-time. He also acknowledged his mistake in appointing Roman Cabernac as his chief of staff, a decision he has since corrected.
On the recent leadership reshuffle, Steenhuisen clarified that he never claimed George's removal was due to underperformance. He explained that George's American citizenship and financial expertise made him a suitable candidate for the Deputy DTIC minister role.
Regarding the credit card debt, Steenhuisen asserted that the issue was resolved long ago, acknowledging the financial pressures faced by many South African families.
He strongly denied allegations of misusing party funds, calling them "fabrications" and expressing confidence that an ongoing investigation by the DA's Federal Executive will clear his name.
"I've got nothing to hide," Steenhuisen said. "I've provided all the statements. I've never abused party money or a party credit card."
